WWDA Congratulates Rosemary Kayess who has been nominated by Australia as a candidate for election to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for the 2019-2022 term.
The CRPD is an important human rights treaty body that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Elections to the committee will be held in June next year.
Rosemary Kayess is an internationally respected lawyer and researcher specialising in discrimination and human rights law. She is currently Chair of the Australian Centre for Disability Law. Ms Kayess’ research and advocacy includes access to justice, human right, guardianship, social inclusion, housing and employment.
